Dead Man’s Bones

Record Cover Design

As a passion project, I reimagined the album cover for Dead Man’s Bones—the hauntingly original collaboration between Ryan Gosling and Zach Shields. Born from their shared love of horror films and music, the album blends eerie themes with a surprisingly tender edge, especially through the haunting vocals of the Silverlake Conservatory children’s choir.

My design aimed to capture that contrast: spooky yet sincere, dark yet innocent. Inspired by Halloween iconography, I worked with a stripped-back color palette and a minimalist typeface to let the band’s distinctive logo and atmosphere take center stage. A vintage photoshoot of children in skeleton costumes—discovered serendipitously—perfectly matched the tone I was aiming for.

To round out the concept, I also designed a line of complementary merchandise, extending the aesthetic into a cohesive visual world.
