Dead Man’s Bones

Record Cover Design

Overview

As a passion project, I redesigned the record cover for Dead Man’s Bones’ self-titled album, the intriguing and singular creation of Ryan Gosling and Zach Shields. Inspired by the album’s origin story, where their mutual love for horror movies and music blossomed into this unique project, I aimed to encapsulate its spooky yet heartfelt essence. The album’s hauntingly beautiful incorporation of the Silverlake Conservatory of Music’s children’s choir adds a layer of innocence, creating a captivating contrast with its dark themes. Drawing inspiration from Halloween, I selected a simple color scheme and a minimalist typeface to accentuate the band's distinctive logo. A serendipitous find of a photoshoot featuring children in skeleton costumes perfectly aligned with my envisioned theme. To complete the project, I also crafted a line of complementary merchandise, enriching the overall aesthetic experience.
